/ ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
Camare Penthouse is a wooden cabin, created as a summer extension to a family home overlooking Lago Maggiore in North Italy. I designed it, prefabricated the components and constructed it on-site together with a local contractor. The children of the family had been sleeping on this spot for years during the summers, in a tent surrounded by the view and sounds of wildlife. The main objective for this intervention was to add a level of comfort as the family grew bigger; creating shelter and protection, while at the same time maintaining part of that original sensation. The design freedom I got from the client combined with the remoteness of the location and the cultural challenges we had to overcome during the construction, made this project into a precious one. I’m proud of the result, and it has ignited the ambition to pursue more of this type of work.
