/ SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION
Casetta Palazzo Sperlinga is an ongoing sustainable construction project in collaboration with Azienda Agricola Aquaviva. We found a source of 400years old, beautiful used material from the restoration of Palazzo Sperlinga in Palermo. We committed ourselves to transforming the waste from the restoration into a new mini palazzo; a cottage on the rocks, overlooking Fraginesi and the Sicilian coast. After analyzing the most common measurements of the wooden pieces we came up with a system to transform the wonky unpredictable beams into a useful resource to construct the framework of our cabin. As most beams were filled with nails, we decided to clean up two sides using a band saw, in order to create a reliable reference grid for further construction.
